Ritual: Three Card Story
Set sacred space in the ways you prefer (some ideas – burn sage or palo santo, light candles, call in the directions, assemble an altar, sing a song). Pull out your divination decks. (See www.qoya.love/bookresources for a list of my favorites.)
Take a couple of deep breaths to let your body lead you. Select one card with the intention that it symbolizes the beginning of the story. Then select a second card for the middle and one for the end. Leave the cards face down, and wait to turn the cards over one at a time as you are writing.
Flip to the next page (or in your journal) and start with the prompt there as the first sentence of your story. Flip over your first card to tell the beginning of the story. Go with your first thoughts, whatever the words or images on the card bring up for you. Let your authentic ideas flow unimpeded with the intention of accessing the deeper meaning and vision inside of you. Don’t worry whether or not the story makes sense.
After writing a paragraph about the beginning of your story, flip over the second card and write the middle of your story. Finally, flip over the third card and write the end of the story as inspired by the card.
Read your story aloud, and listen for the theme or learning that emerges. Notice any places where you feel something in your body that you just know is true. Can you name one pearl of wisdom in your story that really resonates with you? Notice if you are able to sense more of the message that is coming up from your subconscious. Read the story again – this time, instead of in third person, read it in the first person, and notice if you are able to sense more of the message.
To embody this experience, can you think of a song that feels like the message you received? Experiment with doing the circling exercise to that song once a day for a week to keep expanding your relationship to your story.
Once upon a time, there was a woman who remembered she was born to create.
